Rebecca studies aquatic insect ecology. Her current research examines the problem of nuisance black flies in western Maryland through the lens of area-wide pest management. She is interested in the factors that drive the distribution of both the adult and larval flies, and using these factors to create predictive models to inform future management efforts. She is also conducting surveys with residents to determine the societal impact of the black fly nuisance.
